This article outline the process for users changing the password after this Business User portal account has been created.
1. Change Password
When Business User accounts are created via the client application or the online portal, the users will typically be alerted of this via an e-mail notification sent by Pentana.
- The initial email will include the Username and Account name that provides access to the online portal, but please note that the user’s password is not provided via email for security reasons. Instead, they will be invited to contact their System Administrator to retrieve this information.
- If Active Directory single-sign-on is configured, the Business User will be automatically logged in to the online portal without having to enter any user credentials.
- However, if standard authentication is used, when the Business User logs in for the first time, they will be prompted by the system to change the preliminary password (provided by the System Administrator) to one that is private.
- This password can then be maintained by the user as needed, by accessing the Change Password function from the Configuration menu.
- There is also a shortcut hyperlink in the fixed menu at the bottom of the screen, that can be used as an alternative.
- In either case, the following screen will be shown, where the Current Password must be entered to validate the New Password that is chosen.
- While the system provides clear visual indication of Poor or Good password strengths, the information icon shown above will provide more advanced information regarding the password character settings.
- For this to be relevant when choosing the strength of your password, users should be informed of the Required Complexity value that has been determined by the System Administrator.
- Select OK to return to the previous screen.
- Ensuring that the Confirm Password field matches the New Password chosen, select Change to save the settings.
- Alternatively, select Cancel to discard the changes altogether.
- Please note that if a Business User forgets their password, a System Administrator can reset this for them through the client application or the online portal. When using the online portal, this process is explained in subsequent chapters of this manual.
