1. Understanding database installation prerequisites

Installation prerequisites are listed below:

• SQL Server computer is a member of the network domain1.
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or above.
• SQL accessible over the network and SQL server ports configured through the firewall.

2. Upgrading and configuring the MKinsight Databases

2.1. Running MKI.DBUpgrade

1. Run the Tool MKI.DBUpgrade provided.

2. Enter the Connection details, normally the Provider and Transmission Protocol can be left as default.
3. The Network location is the name (and instance) of the database server.
4. Either tick the box labelled Integrated Authentication, if you are connecting using a windows user account with SQL privileges, or enter a valid SQL username and password.
5. Select the Live Database from the dropdown list.
6. Click Next.

Note: If the Current database version is less than 7.1, contact Morgan Kai Support for help with the upgrade.

7. Select the version to upgrade to 11.1.
8. Click Next.

9. Select Yes.
10. The database upgrade will commence.
11. Once finished, click Finish.

12. If any errors occur during the upgrade process, the process will be rolled back and a log will be produced, which should be sent to Ideagen support for analysis.
13. These steps should be repeated, using the MKInsight-Training database.

4. Checking the Live database options

1. Right-click the MKinsight-Live database.
2. Select Properties.
3. Choose Options.
4. Verify that Recovery Model is set to Full and in Automatic the following is set:

• Auto Close – False
• Auto Create Statistics – True
• Auto Shrink-False
• Auto Update Statistics – True
• Auto Update Statistics Asynchronously – True

5. Change these options if they show a different value.
6. Click OK to save the changes.

5. Restoring and configuring the Training Database

1. Restore the Training database, named CompanyName-Training.bak in the installation archive to MKinsight-Training.
2. Expand the Security folder.
3. Expand Logins.
4. Right-click MKinsight_User.
5. Select Properties. 
6. Select User Mapping.
7. Select MKinsight-Training database.
8. Select db_owner from Database role membership.
9. Click OK to save the database login properties.

6. Checking the Training database options

1. Right-click the MKinsight-Live database.
2. Select Properties.
3. Choose Options. 
4. Verify that Recovery Model is set to Full and in Automatic the following is set:

• Auto Close – False
• Auto Create Statistics – True
• Auto Shrink-False
• Auto Update Statistics – True
• Auto Update Statistics Asynchronously – True

5. Change these options if they show a different value.
6. Click OK to save the changes.
