Administrators who want to learn about installing Full Text Search.

Access to the SQL server is required.

MKinsight provides the facility to search for keywords across the system.  Whilst this search covers all areas, such as free text fields etc. audit teams will often want to search within attachments as well.  By setting up the search function using the instructions below this will be facilitated.  Please be aware that, whilst attachments can be searched, should the search need to include PDFs, this does require an additional piece of software to be purchased in order to facilitate the relevant indexing of these file types.  Full instructions are included below.

1. Installation of Full Text Search

1.1. Prerequisites

Full Text Search feature within the database engine of SQL Server installed.

Note: This is an option which can only be installed in the initial installation of sql server.

1.2. Installation Instructions

1. Run the Tool MKItools.InstallSearch.exe.

2. Enter the Network location of the SQL Server, either IP address or DNS name.
3. Enter the Database Name, the tool needs to be run on all databases individually.
4. If you have Integrated Authentication and are logged in with an account that has sysadmin rights on the SQL Server, tick the box labelled Integrated Authentication, otherwise enter a SQL username and password that has sysadmin rights on the SQL Server (eg sa).
5. Click the Install button.                                                                                     
6. Restart SQL Server to activate the changes.
7. If PDF search functionality is required, then the PDF iFilter can be purchased directly from Foxit software.  Once installed on the server this will automatically integrate with Ideagen Internal Audit (Aura) and Standard PDFs can be searched.
8. The iFilter software is available from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/products/ifilter/
