This article outline the process for implementing multiple clients to connect to different environments.
1. Implementing multiple clients
It may be beneficial to set up another instance of Internal Audit MK on a test environment, in order to perform UAT and investigate new functionality following an upgrade.
- This is achieved by installing a second instance of the Internal Audit MK system on a new server, that is completely separate to the Production environment and the Live data held within it.
Note: This is a very practical way to test out new features following an upgrade, without impacting the Production System.
- The full client application will only allow a connection to one server, and the majority of users will already have their clients linked to the production environment.
- In order to work around this, a second client system will need to be created.
- You can have a desktop icon for your initial install, which would be the client used to access the Production environment. This can remain as your link to the Production system.
- You then copy the entire Client install folder into a new location to create a second instance of the client with its own configuration file and desktop icon.
Note: When you open this second client, the connection details will need to be amended.
- You can do this by navigating to
- Help
- Customer Support
- Test Connection Availability
- Setup Connection.
- This is then the client used to access the UAT environment, and you can create a second desktop icon for this client.
