1. Understanding database installation prerequisites
Installation prerequisites are listed below:
- SQL Server computer is a member of the network domain1.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
- SQL accessible over the network and SQL server ports configured through the firewall.

2. Upgrading and configuring the Databases
2.1. Running PentanaTools.DatabaseUpgrade
- Run the Tool PentanaTools.DatabaseUpgrade.exe provided.
- Enter the Connection details, normally the Provider and Transmission Protocol can be left as default.
- The Network location is the name (and instance) of the database server.
- Either tick the box labelled Integrated Authentication, if you are connecting using a windows user account with SQL privileges, or enter a valid SQL username and password.
- Select the Live Database from the dropdown list.
- Click Next.
Note: If the Current database version is less than 7.1, contact Morgan Kai Support for help with the upgrade.
- Select the version to upgrade to 12.0.
- Click Next.
- Select Yes.
- The database upgrade will commence.
- Once finished, click Finish.
- If any errors occur during the upgrade process, the process will be rolled back and a log will be produced, which should be sent to Ideagen support for analysis.
- These steps should be repeated, using the Ideagen Internal Audit (Aura)-Training database.
3. Checking the Live database options
- Right-click the MKinsight-Live database.
- Select Properties.
- Choose Options.
- Verify that Recovery Model is set to Full and in Automatic the following is set:
- Auto Close – False
- Auto Create Statistics – True
- Auto Shrink-False
- Auto Update Statistics – True
- Auto Update Statistics Asynchronously – True
- Change these options if they show a different value.
- Click OK to save the changes.
